Travel Medicine
Travel medicine is dedicated to the health of those who travel to overseas countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) is an international body that provides world-wide travel recommendations, while Smart traveler provides Australians with the latest information and advice for safe overseas travel. Our GPs provide up-to-date travel information and education, as well as required travel vaccinations. Our practice is also one of a select few clinics that are accredited to provide the Yellow Fever (Stamaril) vaccination.
At our clinic, our GPs provide up-to-date travel advice, based on the latest guidelines from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Smartraveller, which offer essential information on vaccinations, disease outbreaks, and country-specific health precautions. Whether you are travelling for work, study, or leisure, our team can help you understand health risks, take appropriate preventive measures, and stay protected throughout your journey.
Our Travel Medicine Services Include
When should I book a travel medicine consultation?
It is recommended to book your appointment 4–6 weeks before travelling, as some vaccinations require multiple doses or time to become fully effective.
Do I need the Yellow Fever vaccine for all countries in Africa or South America?
Not always. Only certain countries require or recommend the Yellow Fever vaccine. Our GPs will check current guidelines and inform you based on your exact itinerary.
What should I bring to my travel consultation?
Please bring your vaccination history, travel itinerary, and details about any existing medical conditions or medications.
Can I get sick even if I’m fully vaccinated?
Vaccinations significantly reduce risk but do not eliminate it entirely. That’s why we also provide education on safe food, water, and mosquito-avoidance practices.
Do you provide medication for malaria prevention?
Yes. Our GPs can prescribe suitable anti-malarial medications based on your destination, duration, and individual health needs.
