Women Health

Women’s health has a strong focus on preventative care in managing a woman’s physical and emotional wellbeing. WCFM provides a range of preventative care services, including breast checks, referral for mammography, cervical screening, and screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Our GPs also provide a range of women’s health services, such as birth control management, Implanon and IUD insertion and removal, family planning, fertility counseling, pregnancy testing, and menopausal advice and management.

Women’s health focuses strongly on preventative care, ensuring that every woman receives the support she needs to maintain both her physical and emotional wellbeing. At WCFM, our goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and confidential healthcare services tailored to women at every stage of life.

We offer a wide range of preventative and general women’s health services designed to detect potential concerns early, support reproductive health, and empower women with the information they need to make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

Preventative Care Services

Our preventative care services help identify health concerns early and promote long-term wellness. These include:

  • Breast health checks and clinical breast examinations
  • Referral for mammography for early breast cancer detection
  • Cervical screening (Pap smear / HPV testing)
  • Screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Routine health assessments tailored to women’s needs
  • Blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes risk evaluation
  • Lifestyle and nutritional counselling to support hormonal and reproductive health

How often should I have a cervical screening test?

Most women aged 25–74 should undergo cervical screening every 5 years, unless advised otherwise by a doctor.

Do I need a referral for breast screening or mammography?

Your GP can assess your needs and provide a referral for a mammogram if necessary based on age, symptoms, or family history.

What is the difference between an Implanon and an IUD?

Implanon is a small contraceptive rod inserted under the skin of the arm, while an IUD is placed inside the uterus. Our doctors can help you decide which method best suits your lifestyle and health needs.

Can I discuss fertility concerns or family planning with a GP?

Yes, our GPs offer fertility counselling, pre-conception guidance, and support for women trying to conceive.

What kind of menopausal support do you provide?

We offer symptom assessment, hormone and non-hormonal treatment options, lifestyle guidance, and ongoing management to help women navigate menopause comfortably.
